Robotics Engineer: Motion & Control Systems

6. Ecobot

Develop cutting-edge robotics systems, from autonomous navigation to SLAM, while working with high-end hardware and real-world challenges.

Responsibilities & Tasks 

  • Design and optimize motor control algorithms for autonomous navigation 

  • Develop real-time motion planning using ROS2 

  • Implement SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) for object and environment mapping

  • Integrate robotic actuators (arms, grippers) for waste collection and sorting 

  • General Responsibilities: Attend weekly/bi-weekly departmental & organizational RoboTUM meetings, as well as occasional spontaneous meetings as needed. Answer emails and messages within 24 hours (be comfortable using Slack). Adhere to RoboTUM policies and be willing to help when the team needs you.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basics of robot kinematics and dynamics

  • Familiarity with Python/C++ and embedded systems  


Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience with ROS2, Gazebo, and SLAM 

  • Strong knowledge of control theory, PID tuning, and path planning 

  • Hands-on experience with motor drivers

  • 8-10 hours/week
